UCC Set For Ogoni Crusade, Plants Church At Wiiyakara

The United Church of Christ (UCC) says all arrangements have been put in place for a mega gospel crusade billed for Wiiyakara in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State on Monday, July 8, 2021.

Speaking to journalists ahead of the upcoming event, the District Superintendent of Oromeruezimgbu District of UCC, Rev. Dr. Amaechi Mba said the reason and choice of Winyakara Town for the crusade was because, according to him, some indigenes of the town who worship with the Oromeruezimgbu District of UCC have indicated interest to have a District at their town.

“The salient reason for the crusade at Wiiyakara as well as planting the church there is to win souls for Jesus Christ through evangelism.  God has led me and members of the church to go Ogoni land and plant another UCC Distric.  Again, given the current situation of social existence in Ogoni land, God has asked us to go into Wiiyakara to introduce the Lord to the youth of the area in particular and Ogoni in general”, Mba said.

He assured that by the time religious activities take off in Wiiyakara Town, idle worship in the area would be a thing of the past, adding that the crusade is aimed at blessing the land of Wiiyakara before government moves into the area.

“Our aim of storming and planting UCC in Wiiyakara is to bring people up morally.  Indeed, when Jesus Christ is in Winyakara, both federal and state government’s presence will also follow suit at Wiiyakara”, Mba assured, adding that their fervent prayer is for God to give them a clement weather during the period of the crusade.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Planning Committee for the crusade, christened, Wiiyakara 2021 Crusade, Elder Kenneth Nwulu, said that plans have reached advanced stage for a successful crusade at Wiiyakara.

He promised that members of the Planning Committee would soon embark on a sensitization programme toward the crusade across the state.

Elder Nwulu stated that they are moving a lot of resources to Wiiyakara in order to advance the work of God as well as help the poor and vulnerable groups.
