No More Collection Of Emohua Council Revenues In Cash – Lloyd
Emohua Local Government Chairman, Dr Chidi Lloyd has charged members of Emohua Local Government Revenue Committee to ensure the issuance of receipt for every payment made to the council revenue account.
Dr Lloyd said the days when revenue agents collected council revenue in cash was over.
Speaking during the inauguration of the newly constituted Emohua Local Government Revenue Committee in his office on Monday, the council chairman urged members of the committee to live above board in the discharge of their duties.
He however warned that the Local Government will not tolerate lawlessness from members of the committee in the discharge of their duties.
The council chairman mandated the committee to negotiate and collect all revenue on behalf of Emohua Local Government through a revenue account that will be provided by the council treasurer.
” We will not condone criminality from any member of Council Revenue Committee or your agents. You were not selected based on political party affiliation.
“Your appointment isn’t in anyway a political settlement, that’s why you must live above board.
“I don’t know some of you and most of you came by recommendation, so I am seeing those who recommend you, if you mess up you have messed up those who recommended you.
“No cash payment please, all payments must be made to the bank account that will be provided by the treasurer and issue appropriate receipt for every payment, don’t take laws into your hands by using machetes and other dangerous weapons to intimidate business operators in the name of enforcement,” he said.
The council chairman disclosed that the monthly allocation of Emohua Local Government from the federation account is almost equal to the Wage Bill of the council and urge the chairman of the revenue committee to put his experience in Revenue into use to improve the internally generated revenue of the Local Government.
The chairman of the inaugurated Revenue Committee, Mr Chidiebere Dike, on behalf of members of the Revenue Committee thanked the council chairman for the opportunity to serve and promised to live up to expectation.
