Gunmen Kill One In EMOLGA
The relative peace in Egbeda Community, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State was disrupted last Saturday following the killing of a man popularly known as ‘Coach’ at Omordu clan. This was coming barely two weeks after the local vigilante, OSPAC was disbanded in the area.
A native of the community who pleaded anonymity told our reporter that residents were still in shock over the incident.
Our source stated that the victim was killed when gunmen suspected to be cultists had invaded the community late on Saturday and had shot him.
The source claimed that the deceased who was said to be a father of two was not a member of any cult group.
Before the return of relative peace in Egbeda in 2019, the community witnessed cult related violence.
Many suspected cultists fled the area on formation of OSPAC, a local vigilante in 2019 which worked in collaboration with the Police and other security agency to restore sanity to a certain extent.
The spokesperson of Rivers State Police Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni, was yet to respond to inquiry into the incident as at press time.
