Praise Galore As Justice Kobani Marks Birthday
Congratulatory messages are pouring in torrents in for Hon. Justice Joseph Mgbo Kobani following the celebration of his birthday at the weekend in Port Harcourt. Most of those who sent goodwill messages, commended the retired judge for his meritorious services to his fatherland.
Speaking during birthday celebration which featured the presentation of his book ‘In Search of a Saner Society’, a former National President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Okey Wali said that Justice Kobani deserves commendation, stressing that the relationship he built between the members of the Bar and members of the Bench was second to none.
Earlier, the Chairman of the occasion, Hon. Justice Peter Agumagu (rtd) said that the contributions of Justice Kobani to the judicial system should be commended.
He described Kobani as an incorruptible and trust worthy judge whose record would continue to speak audibly.
Also speaking, a catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Francis Normakoh said that the efforts and contributions of Hon. Justice Kobani to the growth and development of Rivers State and Nigeria at large deserves accolades.
Fr. Normakoh charged younger lawyers in particular to emulate the virtues and approach of Hon. Justice Kobani.
A businessman, Chief (Amb) Jerry said the celebrant has distinguished himself in his chosen career, saying that there was the need for people to identify with Justice Kobani because of his deeds, even as he congratulated him on the successes recorded in course of his career.
Chairman of the Planning Committee, Barrister Jerry Amadi, in his speech, said Hon. Justice Kobani has paid his dues in the administration of the judicial system.
In his response, the celebrant, Hon. Justice Kobani said that having spent over 15 years on the Bench, he is a fulfilled man.
He reiterated that since the social ills in Nigeria still exist up till today, there was the need for Nigerians to pick and buy his book in order to know some of the solutions and antidotes to this social ill.
On his part, a Port Harcourt based legal practitioner, Mr. Karibi George said the celebrant has done well, and described his achievements as milestones.
He described Hon. Justice Kobani as a competent judge who has distinguished himself, promising that he would continue to support him and members of his family as well as sustain the relationship.
