Bakana: Odum Barboy Houses Under Fire Over Office Address
The tussle over the stool of Amanyanabo of Bakana in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State has assumed another dimension with allegation that the property being used by the Odum Barboy Group of Houses as office address, does not belong to them.
The Regent of King Igbanibo Will-Braide Group of Houses of Bakana, Chief Moroh T. Oruambo who made the disclosure in a refutal, accused the Odum Barboy Group of Houses of inferring ownership of the property being used as postal or office address.
In the refutal which was jointly signed with six other Chiefs of King Igbanibo Will-Braide Group of Houses, the Regent said their attention was drawn to an advertorial by the Odum Barboy Group of Houses wherein the ancient King Igbanibo Will-Braide Memorial Hall, Town Square was mentioned as ‘C/O’ of Odum Barboy Group of Houses, Bakana.
According to the Recent, “King Igbanibo Will-Braide Memorial Hall, Town Square, Bakana is not the property of Odum Barboy Group of Houses, Bakana, rather it is the property of King Igbanibo Will-Braide Group of Houses of Bakana where King Igbanibo Will-Braide was also buried and we are never in agreement with Odum Barboy Group of Houses to use King Igbanibo Memorial Hall as their postal or office address”.
“As far as we know, there is no Odum Barboy office attached in the said King Igbanibo Will-Braide Memorial Hall, more so, the said Hall is exclusively for King Igbanibo Will-Braide Group of Houses.
“The Houses of King Igbanibo Will-Braide of Bakana are saddened with the misrepresentation made by Odum Barboy Group of Houses and in the event this misrepresentation continues, a legal action will be accordingly instituted in court and damages claimed against Odum Barboy Group of Houses, Bakana”, the Regent averred.
He emphasized that King Igbanibo Will-Braide Memorial Hall is not in ‘Town Hall’ as represented by Odum Barboy Group of Houses in their publication, adding that it is known as King Will-Braide Square even as he noted that all other Chiefs in Bakana had their own Squares named after them.
