Rivers NUJ Mourns Former Chairman
The Rivers State Council of NUJ has expressed shock over news of the untimely death of it’s former Chairman, Barrister Ipalibo Karibi-Botoye.
Barrister Botoye a one time Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Rivers State Council of NUJ died on Wednesday 4th August, 2021 in Port Harcourt.
A statement released by the council and signed by the Assistant secretary, Ilaye Chapp-Jumbo stated that the deceased was a former staff of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation, Publishers of the Tide Newspaper, who rose through the rank as Chief Sub Editor, Editor of Sunday Tide, and voluntarily retired as Editor-in-chief.
The Union further noted that the former Chairman participated in various committees of the Union at the Chapel and State levels even after his retirement.
” He was indeed a seasoned Journalist. He wrote two Journalism books, His first book was “How a Newspaper is Produced” published, 1987 and “The Court Reporter” 2008″, the statement stated.
Late Ipalibo Karibi-Botoye until his death was also an accomplished legal practitioner.
The Council prays God to grant his soul eternal rest, and give his family the fortitude to bear his departure.
