Rivers State House Of Assembly Passes 2 Bills Into Law
Rivers State today added 2 New Laws to its plethora of laws. The laws are Rivers State Integrity and Accountability Commission law 2021 and Rivers State Housing Scheme for Judicial Officers Law.
This was sequel to the passage of the two bills into law after a robust debate by lawmakers on the floor of the House.
Commencing debate on the Intergerity and Accountability Commissions Bill, leader of the Assembly, Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule noted that it is novel and is intended to ensure integrity and accountability in public service institutions adding that it will not only ensure probity in public offices but ensure that financial crime in the state is reduced to the barest minimum.
In their separate submissions, the lawmakers present at the plenary including the lawmakers representing Tai constituency, Mathew Dike, and his Abua/odual counterpart Solomon Sokulu stressed that the law was long overdue while describing it as worthwhile.
According to them, the law will reduce financial rascality in public office and also ensure that ethical standards are maintained .
In his ruling, the Speaker Rt. Hon. Ikwuiyi Owaji Ibani affirmed that the content is excellent and will additionally bring improvement to the state because public funds will be properly utilised.
