KAGOTE Explains Why Eleme Is Important To Ogoni

KAGOTE, an acronym for Khana, Gokana, Tai and Eleme local government areas, has explained the pride of place which Eleme Local Government Area occupied in the heart of the Ogoni ethnic nationality.

Speaking in Nchia, the headquarters of Eleme Local Government Area on Friday in continuation of courtesy visits to local government councils and notable institutions in Ogoni land, the Kagote President congratulated Chairman of the Council, Hon. Obarilomate Ollor on the attainment of one hundred days in office and also hinted on plans to share ideas and visions together.

He said Kagote would also use the occasion of the visit to commend Hon. Ollor for winning the confidence of Eleme people who voted massively for him during the election that brought him to power.

The Kagote boss added that the body was elated at the quality of policies, programs and projects already completed as well as those being initiated by the Chairman.

“We want to acknowledge the fact that Eleme is the hub of the petroleum sector in Nigeria. We have the petrochemical plant, fertilizer plant, oil and gas free zone, two sea ports and two refineries, among others”, said the Kagote Chief

Stressing that the importance of Eleme LGA to the economy of Ogoni ethnic nationality cannot be over emphasized, Hon. Deeyah charged the Chairman to sustain the efforts that has brought Ed enduring peace and tranquility in the area.

Responding, Chairman of Eleme Local Government Council, Hon. Obarilomate Ollor said the visit was a welcome development as the Council would welcome and appreciate their invaluable contributions to the advancement of the LGA.

The Chairman, while acknowledging the importance of Eleme in the scheme of development of the Ogoni ethnic nationality, revealed that the Council had put a machinery in place to enable all companies operating in Eleme live to their cooperate social responsibilities.

He said his developmental efforts were focused mainly on basic needs of the people like security, employment and power supply.

“If you go to Agbonchia now, you’ll see we’ve completed their town hall. Go to Onne, you see a fantastic Civic Center, go to motor park and you see fantastic construction work going on”, he said, adding that he is deemphasizing on infrastructures for now and rather going for the basic needs of the people.

He described Kagote as a noble organization and well-coordinated on the issues of Ogoni, adding that with the leadership and cohesion currently embedded in the body, Ogoni would be taken to expected destination.

“I also want to urge Eleme people and Ogoni in general to continue to support and encourage this set of leadership”, he said, while pledging commitment to great partnership with the body.
