Prof Fakae Scores Okpe Good
Former Vice Chancellor of the Rivers State University (RSU), Professor Barineme Beke Fakae has expressed satisfaction with the pace and precision taken by the Chairman of Tai Local Government Area, Hon. Mbakpone Okpe to execute his developmental programs.
Speaking to reporters at Tai Council Secretariat, Saakpenwa on Wednesday, Fakae noted that what the Chairman had already put on ground after 100 days in office, would evoke healthy competition among his peers.
The professor of Veterinary Parasitology, averred that Okpe had distinguished himself with execution of quality projects that would not only stand the test of time but would serve as legacies.
His words, “What the Chairman has done is something very impressive and when somebody works with this feat, it actually sets a pace that would make others want to meet up.
I am particularly impressed and that is why I keep going round to tell others on what can be done for improvement”.
Prof Fakae who was on the delegation of leaders of Ogoni apex socio-cultural body, Kagote, to pay a courtesy visit to the Council Chairman, urged Hon. Okpe to sustain the tempo so he would leave a legacy for posterity.
On the areas of possible improvement, Fakae who was also a former Rector of the Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori, said it was still too early to extrapolate.
“The truth is that we have just come, and talking about improvement, somebody has just started and he is doing the type of thing and with the type of speed nobody would have thought about.
Of course, as he goes on, and he stabilizes, a number of things will be taken care of.
That’s why we say that after writing, you try to cross the Ts and dot the Is. I like his plans and I think they are futuristic.
He should keep it up”, he said, and urged his colleagues in other LGAs to look in that direction to move on.
