Politicians Have Nothing To Bequeath On Nigerian Youths – Clergyman

 

It has been confirmed that the sobriquet that youths are the leaders of tomorrow does not hold waters for the Nigerian youths. This is because the political leaders have bequeathed nothing on them except corruption, looting and other electoral frauds.

This was the view of a Clergyman and Bishopric Coordinator of the Church of God Mission, Diobu Bishopric, Port Harcourt, Rev. Samuel O. Ibude in a chat with newsmen.

According to him, “we the religious leaders have been hoping and praying for a better Nigeria but a lot depends on the operators”.

He said the politicians need proper reorientation for them to change their mentality and  tactics for a better tomorrow.

On whether religious leaders should be encouraged to join partisan politics, the man of God said there was nothing wrong with that.

“Politics is not dirty perse as it is erroneously perceived but it is the way political operators go about it” he stated. He made it clear that one can still gets involved without soiling his/her hands.

He maintained that integrity matters wherever one is involved.  He condemned a situation where all political appointments or employment opportunities are reserved only for one ethnic nationality without qualms disregarding the federal character principles.

When reminded that these imbalances including the insecurity in the country actuality contributes to the various agitations for secession, Rev. Ibude while condemning the ugly development, however advocated for one united nation as according to him, “the advantages of one United Nigeria is greater”.

He however, appealed the political leaders to give priority attention to Education and Healthcare delivery and agriculture. “These should be vigorously pursued if the country hopes to be revived very soon,” he said.

The former lecturer particularly emphasized on the 6-3-3-4 education policy which he noted tended to encourage entrepreneurship and self-reliance but which was criminally discarded and the procured equipments for it discarded.

He also suggested that the constitutional  conference report of 2014 though hurriedly convoked for political Agberos”, it is necessary the outcome is implemented for a start as majority of the citizens appear to support the submission.

He equally used the opportunity to urged the Army and other security operatives for a synergy to sincerely tackle the insecurity ravaging the country if actually they sincerely believe and want to sustain the one and united nation.

Rev. Ibude also used the chance to lambast the National Assembly members for according to him abdicating in their duties of checkmating the excesses of the Executives “because the three Arms of government are supposed to work in synergy to protect the nascent democracy”.

Also speaking at the event, a member of the church and Paramount Ruler of Mgbundukwu Community, HRH, Eze Tobin Owabie while lamenting the situation in the country expressed hope on its survival.

According to the him, “with the capacity leadership of politicians like Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, there is hope for the country’s restoration”.

Eze Owabie used the opportunity to congratulate the Governor over his current Award of Excellence from the Sun Newspaper and prayed for more strength and wisdom for the Governor to make his leadership qualities available to the nation.
