Nigerian Institute Of Management Elects New Exco

Dr. Emi Membere-Otaji has been elected as a council member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM Chartered), to run the affairs of the Institute for two years with other council members.

He was elected alongside the erstwhile Deputy President, now the 23rd President and Chairman of the council, Major-Gen. Abdullahi Muraina (rtd.), Dr. Christiana Vincent-Atako, a former acting Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as Deputy President and Commodore Abimbola Ayuba (rtd.), a former Director at both Defense Headquarters and Naval Headquarters, Abuja, as the National Treasurer during the election and inauguration of the President and council members at MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos.

The Elshcon group helmsman will be bringing on board his vast professional expertise, business acumen, management, and corporate governance experience to avail the institute and help set strategic goals that will drive the growth of the institute.

He is a vibrant and notable manager and investor that will not only bring his wealth of experience to the organization but will also be strategic in engendering exponential growth in terms of training, revenue generation, and membership drive.

Dr. Membere-Otaji is an astute administrator and Chairman/CEO of Elshcon Group of Companies with interests in Oil and Gas, Shipping, Healthcare, and Ocean fishing.

He is a medical doctor turned entrepreneur. A graduate of the University of Lagos, Medical School, Nigeria, and certificates from Lagos Business School and MCDonough School of Business, Georgetown University, Washington DC, USA.

Among others, he is a Fellow and recipient of the “Award of Excellence” of the Nigeria Institute of Management and also the Nigerian Association of Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines & Agriculture (NACCIMA), Fellow College of Health Sciences & Technology, Rivers State and Association of General & Private Medical Practitioners of Nigeria, Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International and “Award of Role of Honor” from the Nigerian Medical Association Rivers State chapter and Distinguished Medical Practitioner of Nigeria (DMP) Awardee of the Association of General & Private Medical Practitioners of Nigeria (AGPMPN). He is a one-time Chairman of West African Glass Industry Plc, a former Director of Pabod Breweries Limited. 

He was a former Commissioner for Health, who in the year 2000 was a member of a federal government committee to review and set up operational modalities for the implementation of the NHIS Act of 1998, served as Special Adviser to the Rivers State Government on Privatization and Investments, past Chairman, Board of Directors of Clearline International Limited (HMO), and former Governing Board Member, University of Port Harcourt Business School.

Also, a Past President of the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines & Agriculture (PHCCIMA), Dr. Membere-Otaji is presently National Vice President – Nigerian Association of Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines & Agriculture (NACCIMA), Elected Council Member – Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), Chairman – Marine Trade Group PETAN and Member – Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN), Vice Chairman Maritime Trade Group NACCIMA, Founding Member of Ship Owners Association of Nigeria (SOAN), Trustee – Marine Equipment Owners Association (MEOLAN). Member of the National Economic Council Committee on Export Promotion, Member of the Board of Directors of Oil & Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA), Director – ECOWAS Regional Sealink Project Company / Coordinator Sealink Implementation Committee and Governing Board Member of the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping (NCS), among others, and is and is poised via this election to help elevate and enrich the institute’s trajectory.
