As the Christmas and New Year Celebration is fast approaching, it has dawned on many people that time is not on their side and that they just have to make it by any means possible if they must be part of the celebration.
And so a young man popularly known as ‘pastor’ allegedly went to steal some electrical appliances already installed at a 3-storey building situated at No 80 Ikwerre road, by Timber Street, Diobu, Port Harcourt, last week Tuesday December 17th, 2019.
When confronted by one of the Lawyers who have offices there, the thief said he was contracted by one of the Lawyer’s colleagues to effect repairs on the building.
The Lawyer was about climbing up to his office to resume work for the day but his instinct told him to probe further.
“But I should equally be on the know if we have any electrical challenge here and if an electrician is to be engaged”. And so, he urged the alleged thief to follow him upstairs so as to identify the person who contracted him. Sources said the ‘pastor’ reluctantly followed the lawyer to the third floor and an identification parade was organized. When the alleged thief could not identify the person, it then dawned on them that he was actually a thief.
One of them put a call to the police in order to arrest the ‘pastor’. When the policemen eventually arrived the scene of the crime and were trying to make their way upstairs, the thief realized that he is on his way to the police cell or jail and suddenly made a fast escape through the back door, not minding the height, jumped down at the risk of his life in order to escape arrest.
Neighbours and passers-by identified the young man as an intelligent ‘pastor’ who has been preaching the gospel of God anywhere he finds himself even in the commercial buses.
Another source who volunteered information said that, “the ‘pastor’ is so intelligent in Bible quotations and he is so fluent in English language in his preaching that he is sometimes hired by some young ministries to preach the word”.
“However, another source also recalled, in some of those gatherings, some of the electrical appliance normally missing and the owners prayed and handover the development to God for revenge.
He added that God could actually be the one who pushed him to his untimely death for disgracing Him (God), otherwise that he would have disappeared when he was initially confronted at the ground floor.
