Crisis Looms In Rumuola Community Over Chieftaincy Stool

There is probable tension in Rumumgbabisor family of Ofuebezi Community in Rumuola Clan, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State over the illegal occupation of her chieftaincy stool by one of its family members, Mr. Okechukwu Christian Worlu who is now late.

Addressing a press briefing in Port Harcourt over the weekend, the family chairman, Comrade Lawrence Wadike said their attention were drawn to an obituary publications for the late Okechukwu Christian Worlu where the vacant chieftaincy title was dubiously attached to his name.

Comr. Wadike explained that though the traditional stool of “Eze Ofuebezi” is recognized in Apara Kingdom, it has been vacant for some time after the death of the last occupant because the family took their time to go through the traditional process to find a replacement which have been completed.

He made it clear that the late Okechukwu Christian Worlu and his cohorts discreetly installed the deceased for mischieve purpose, adding that he had never been crowned a chief nor an “Eze” (King) and that the deceased has also not deemed it fit to parade himself in the public, when he was alive.

The family chairman, Wadike urge the Rumuola Clan and indeed the general public to disregard the said false publication which he said was aimed at misinforming the gullible public.

He made it known that the Rumumgbabisor family have selected and nominated somebody as a replacement for the “Eze Ofuebezi II chieftaincy title after due process, urging the people to remain calm and exercise patience with the family as they sort themselves out.
