Wenike-Briggs, who made the assertion while delivering a Thank You speech after his emergence as guber candidate following the primaries conducted by the party in Port Harcourt on Saturday, said the time is ripe for Rivers youths to take their destiny in their own hands.

The YPP flag beare who was overwhelmed by a yes-vote by all 130 delegates at the primaries, said he has pledged before God to provide a just and equitable leadership for Rivers people, if given the chance to serve the state.

“Today, God has glorified Himself and I return all thanks to Him. What happened today is a product of God’s grace and I believe that God has answered the prayers of Rivers people, who are yearning for a change”, he declared.

The Abonnema-born engineer described YPP as an incredible party, overwhelming peopled by youths of like-minds, whom he said, are tired of the inept leadership foisted on them by older generation of politicians.

“We are the young minds and we want to change the narrative. Our slogan is ‘service to the people’, our hearts are towards the people; our minds are towards the youths of this country, and if given the chance, we shall not let the people down”, he said.

Wenike-Briggs said the YPP would use all levels of capacity to ensure that Rivers State actualizes the dreams of it’s forefathers, adding that education,  employment and entrepreneurship would be key priorities in his administration when the YPP comes to power.

In his goodwill message at the occasion, the House of Representatives candidate for PHALGA Constituency 1, Chief (Barr) Tamunokuro Alex Somiari, said the overwhelming presence of youths at the event is a testimony of their readiness to take over as according to him, power is not given but taken.
