Red Carpet Reception For Sim Fubara As PDP Issues Certificate Of Return
It was a moment to relish on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 as Rivers people, in their thousands thronged the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, to welcome the State governorship flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 general elections, Amaopusenibo Siminalayi Fubara.
The civic reception for the Opobo-born Prince who arrived from Abuja where he was handed the Certificate of Return (COR) among other candidates across the country, was treated to a red carpet reception by a cross section of Rivers people including top government officials, traditional rulers, women groups, youths, relations and well wishers.
Shortly after the airport ceremonies which saw an array of colorful cultural dances and masquerade displays, the governorship hopeful proceeded to the State Secretariat of the PDP where he addressed party faithful and expressed gratitude to God and Rivers people for the acceptance and solidarity shown since his emergence.
He also lauded other aspirants who had since joined him to advance the cause of the party.
The gubernatorial candidate commended the Rivers State Governor, Chief (Barr) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for his visionary leadership and unwavering support towards his emergence as the PDP flag bearer in the state, promising to consolidate on the legacies of the Wike administration.
He called on Rivers people to see the ticket as a collective mandate for the sustenance of the growth and development ongoing in the state, which according to him “will lead to the advancement and prosperity of the people”.
Sir Fubara had clinched the PDP gubernatorial ticket, receiving 721 delegate votes cast at the primary election held at the Obi Wali International Conference Centre in Port Harcourt on May 25, 2022.
