Opobo, Nkoro Agog As Thousands Embark On PVC Sensitization Drive

A heavy downpour of Saturday, July 9, 2023 rather than discourage the people of Opobo/Nkoro LGA, spurred them into action, as tens of thousands embarked on a road show, walking, singing and dancing, all the way from Nkoro Town to the ancient Opobo City, headquarters of the LGA.

That historic march had one important agenda: to sensitize the people and mobilize them to go all out to register for, obtain and secure their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC), preparatory to participating in the 2023 general elections, to vote for candidates of their choice.

The over 9-kilometer walk kick-started at about 11AM from Nkoro to Opobo Town under the rain, lasted about 2 hours, with party leaders and stakeholders at the frontline, with uncommon enthusiasm, just for Sir Siminialayi Fubara.

After marching round the ancient Opobo City, the mammoth crowd converged on the famous King Jaja Square for the main event.

In his message, the PDP gubernatorial hopeful, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, represented by the Deputy Speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Edison Ogereye Ehie, appealed to the people of the area who are 18 years and above, and have not registered with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for their Permanent Voters Card (PVC), to do so immediately, to obtain and secure their PVCs, preparatory for the next year’s general elections.

Meanwhile, the people of Opobo/Nkoro LGA have used the PVC registration sensitization exercise of Saturday to thank Governor Wike for the emergence of Sir Amaopusenibo Siminialayi Joseph Fubara as PDP governorship candidate for the 2023 Rivers State Governorship Election.

They have also thanked God for giving the Rivers South East Senatorial district and the riverine part of the state the opportunity to take a shot at the Brick House, since the return to the current democratic dispensation in 1999.

Among those in attendance at the rally were party leaders from across the state, candidates of PDP for various offices in next general elections, leaders of the Grassroots Democratic Initiatives (GDI), encouraging the people to register for their PVC.
