University Of Agriculture And Environmental Sciences, Umuagwo Clocks Two, Matriculates Over 454

The University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Umuagwo, Imo State on Friday, April 14, 2023 formally admitted  four hundred and fifty-four (454) students into the University.

Of this number, 22 students were admitted into the Faculty of Agriculture, 169 students for Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences, 92 for Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Environmental Sciences 15, while Faculty of Science and computing had 156.

Speaking at the event, the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Christopher Chiedozie Eze described the University as student-based and a robust boot camp for nurturing the next generation of informed leaders.

The vision of the University, according to the Acting VC, is hinged on the dreams of the founding fathers which is to produce high fliers with capacity to catalyze innovative and scientific transformation in the fields of agriculture, environment, and all allied courses in tandem with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS).

“Though we are relatively young and new, the UAES is already on the path of becoming a world-class University as various mechanisms are on-going to attain this feat,” Prof. Eze assured.

The VC however, warned that the first step to attain this desired height is for the students to be focused on their studies and shun any distractions that may impede their success.

He congratulated the parents and guardians of the matriculating students and thanked them for being tools in the hands of God in the training and development of these young ones.

On his part, the Visitor to the University, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma represented by the State Commissioner for Education, Prof. JohnCliff Nwadike reassured the University of continued support of government .

According to him, the state government had provided necessaries facilities including land for expansion so that the University would achieve set goals

He however, regretted that certain individuals had unlawfully started to encroach on the University land, warning that such persons should desist forthwith, or face the wrath of the law.

The landlord of the University land, the Commissioner emphasized, is the Vice Chancellor, and appealed for the maximum co-operation of the land owners and the entire Umuagwo people, so that the University will grow as expected and which will also benefit them maximally.

The high point of the event was the oath of allegiance to the University rules and regulations by the matriculants.
