Rotary Club Of Port Harcourt Spring Garden Installs Njoku As New President

The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Spring Gardens in its usual pomp and pageantry, Saturday, August 27, 2022 transferred its baton of leadership from the immediate past President, Rtn. Ajoke Hephzi-bah Enebeli to Rtn. Chidi Paul Njoku for 2022/2023 year.

The ceremony hosted at the all befitting TACO Plaza on Dr. Peter Odili Road, Port Harcourt was witnessed by members of the club and a galaxy of other Rotarians from other branches amid rejoicing and exchange of banters.

Rtn. Njoku, the new President of Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Spring Gardens hinged his address on the humanitarian spirit of Rotary Club worldwide which according to him has been a blessing to humanity.

He expressed joy for being a Rotarian which he said has inculcated in him the spirit and ability to be a blessing to others.

There are many out there, especially the less privileged deprived of water, shelter, food, education, he noted, but through Rotary Club, “we have been able to reach out to them”.

Rtn. Chidi Paul Njoku appealed to all Rotarians not to relent in the act of giving and changing lives for which they are known, saying it is through this collective will that the Rotary Club will achieve its mission and vision of upholding the sanctity of lives.

He mentioned the areas of concern for Rotarians as, but not limited to water, sanitation and hygiene, community and economic development, the environment, peace building, conflict prevention, basic education/literary projects, disease prevention and treatment, maternal and child healthcare, etc.

Earlier, in her handover address, the immediate past president, Mrs. Ajoke expressed appreciation to her colleagues for their support and solidarity while she reigned as Rotary President of her branch.

She especially thanked her husband for his support and understanding.

Mrs. Ajoke expressed optimism that her successor, Rtn. Njoku would perform creditably and promised to lend him support and encouragement necessary.

“Rotary Club is the best charity organization in the world, a diverse global network of community of business and professional leaders who are committed to addressing relevant social issues to change lives and build goodwill at home and abroad,” Mrs. Ajoke declared.

The highlight of the historic event was recognition and honouring of some personalities who have distinguished themselves and made various contributions to the service of humanity.
