National Network Again, Emerges Newspaper Of The Year

…Celebrates 18th Anniversary, October 28

…Lauded For Winning Award Back To Back

The sizzling Port Harcourt-based Sensation, National Network newspaper Sunday, September 11, 2022 was crowned the king of the regional tabloids having emerged tops in an in-depth opinion polls by TRENDSETTERS Awards (TSA), a non-governmental organization based in Port Harcourt.

The newspaper, which hits 18 solid years of non-stop outing, and regular on the newsstands since its inception on October 1, 2004, and plans to celebrate its 18th anniversary on October 28th this year was also rated most consistent, daring and fearless in its approach to issues of public interest.

Privately owned and single-handedly run by a veteran journalist, Pastor Jerry Needam, the newspaper was also specially noted for parading the largest number of professionals on its formidable editorial team.

The current award is the third in three consecutive years (2020 – 2022).

Recall that National Network newspaper was also the winner of the DMOMA Newspaper of The Year for 2020 and 2021 respectively.

Receiving the award on behalf of the newspaper, the General Manager and Editor-In-Chief, Chris Konkwo thanked the organizers of the Award, TRENDSETTERS for their foresight and effort to bring the arduous task of newspaper publishing on the front burner of public discourse.

He attributed the rare feats by National Network newspaper to the commitment and team spirit among all staff of the newspaper and dedicated the award to all the journalism victims of police harassment and brutality in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the National Network chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) has applauded the journalistic feat achieved by Port Harcourt-based National Network newspaper which last Sunday, emerged Trendsetter Africa Newspaper of the Year 2022.

In a statement on Monday, jointly signed by the Acting Chairman of the chapel, Mr. Polycarp Nwaeke, and Secretary, Prince Wiro, the body said the newspaper has once more justified its pride of place as a leading news medium, not only in Rivers State but in the South-South region of the country.

“It is now obvious that the newspaper is a force in print journalism.  We recall with elation that National Network is the reigning king of the tabloid, having won the reputable Dmoma Newspaper of the Year Award for 2020 and 2021 respectively”, the statement said.

They added that the Trendsetter Africa Newspaper of the Year Award is only a confirmation that the previous awards garnered by the newspaper was no fluke.

The chapel also congratulated the Publisher of National Network, Pastor Jerry Needam for his administrative prowess which has seen the newspaper remaining on the news-stands since its inception 18 years ago.

They also commended the General Manager/Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Chris Konkwo and Editor, Ken Asinobi for their commitment which has made the paper a must read tabloid by their teeming offline and online readers.
