Tai Council Chairman Inaugurates Volunteer Staff For Health, Education Sectors

The Tai Local Government Council Chairman, Mbakpone Friday Okpe, Tuesday made true his promise to resuscitate the education and health sectors of the council which had been in state of comatose.

Inaugurating the successful volunteers that applied to work at the two sectors on Tuesday, October 11. 2022 at Saakpenwa, headquarters of the Local Government, Hon Okpe said his decision to recruit those volunteers was to boost the sorry state of these two sectors due to abandonment and failure.

He said that as the third tier of government, it is the responsibility of the council to take care of the people parting the state government intervention went on this is why we employ volunteers that will hold brief until such service is given by the state government, Hon. Okpe explained.

The council boss said the engagement of the volunteers would cost the council  about N6million per month but promised to sustain the programme as long as he remains in office.

He emphasized the engagement of these volunteers as another means of human capital development, which he said was  very paramount because without revamping those sectors the future of the people would be bleak even with the numerous infrastructure he has built.

The Council boss asserted that the recruitment process also has legislative backing that made it lawful and apolitical. “Due to the sensitiveness of those sectors, it was done purely on merit, we cannot play with lives and education,” he declared.

He urged the successful volunteers to be diligent in the discharge of their duties, warning  that anyone found wanting, would be replaced without delay.

Mrs Israel Nyorve, one of the beneficiaries who spoke on behalf of education volunteers and Ngbor Kianape Joseph Nelson who spoke on behalf of health volunteers in their separate speeches thanked Hon. Okpe for giving them such opportunity to serve their people and promised not to abuse the opportunity given to them.
