Omuikume Community Holds Grand Reception For Engr. Grant Offor In Omagwa

It was like a roll call at the play ground of Omuikume, Omagwa, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021 as chiefs, elders and youths gathered to receive and thank their illustrious son, Engr. Grant Offor for making them proud in various spheres of life.

Speaking at the event, the Anya Oha 1 of Omuikume, Chief Innocent Chukwukere Nna said “This is the first time the community is celebrating an icon, philanthropist and a great achiever, describing him as a special gift to the community.”

The community chief noted that Engr. Offor has positively impacted on the lives of many through his rural electrification scheme, road reconstruction with drainages, scholarship award for higher education as well as other empowerment programme amongst others.

Also speaking, Jackson Offor observed that the community is still in search of more progressive youths that can take up more developmental projects in other areas, pointing out that the only way to achieve such feats is for the youths to be hardworking, respect elders and shun all forms of negative tendencies that are detrimental to societal growth and development. He also made a cash donation and promised to build a standard town hall for the community as soon as they secure a land for the take-off of the project.

Presenting an award of excellence to Engr. Grant Offor, the Community Chairman, Oliver Wordu acknowledged the contributions of Engr. Offor in the development of not only Omuikume community, but also Omagwa as a whole, stressing that the presentation of gifts showered on him is a clear manifestation of their appreciation for his support and love for the community.

In his acceptance speech, the celebrant, Engr. Grant Offor remarked that he will strive to complete the remaining ongoing projects including the immediate installation of a brand new transformer and however made cash donations to all the groups including women and youth organizations that participated at the event.

The event which featured cultural dances displayed by various groups, especially women, was attended by people from all walks of life, including an experienced and successful surveyor, Elder Boniface Offor as well as friends and family relatives of Engr. Grant Offor and a host of others too numerous to mention graced the epoc- making occasion.
