The Umuenyike family of Idu-Obosiukwu Community and Umu Achi Kindredof Iyasara family of Idu-Osobile Community in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area has announced the infinite postponement of the burial of her daughter, wife and mother, Late Mrs. Ebere Umejuru who passed on to glory on Thursday, December 5, 2020 at the age of 75.

A statement issued by the deceased’s eldest son, Mr. Amobi Godwin Umejuru said the burial which was earlier slated for April 2, 2020, has been shifted indefinitely.

Mr. Umejuru said the postponement became necessary following the pandemic corona virus which has forced the federal and state governments to ban open social functions including burials and weddings.

“You know that government has also placed a limit on social distancing and we can’t imagine interring our dear mother with all these restrictions in place.  Our mother deserves a befitting burial and that is what we all owe her.  At the appropriate time, we shall give her a proper burial devoid of hindrances”, stated Chieme Umejuru, deceased’s second son.

Similarly, the burial of the late ace photographer and videographer, Mr. Augustine Isobo Osah popularly known as Isobo Photos has also been postponed indefinitely.

The Chairman of the event’s Publicity Sub Committee, Prince Charles Amadike-Otoboh, JP, said the burial which was slated to hold on Saturday, March 28, 2020 in Omoku with a preceding night of tribute and service of songs had been communicated to people from far and near.

He attributed the cancellation of the burial to the current coronavirus pandemic and government’s proactive efforts to stop its spread, assuring that a new burial date would be communicated soon as the ‘coast is cleared’.
