Ariolu Charges Rumuobiokani Community On Sustained Peaceful Coexistence
Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Barr George Ariolu has called on the leaders of Rumuobiokani Community to work towards ensuring that relative peace in the area is sustained.
He encouraged them to remain resolute and continue to make amends for peace to thrive.
Ariolu spoke on Monday when he received members of Rumuobiokani Community led by the Paramount Ruler at the Council Headquarters, Rumuodomaya.
Recognising the importance of peace and unity in development, Ariolu commended the Paramount Ruler of Rumuobiokani Community for his advisory roles and fatherly counsels towards sustaining peace in the area.
“Let me specially thank you for the peaceful disposition in Rumuobiokani Community. When the head is bad, it affects the body but when the head is coordinated and focused, you’ll see the effects of that on the people.”
“I know you to be a man of peace. You talk about humility, I’ve told you that you are humility personified. And that is what I feel is the reason for the peace and development so far seen in your community and I urge you to keep it up.”
“Where you have to make amends for people to come together to dwell peacefully, pay that sacrifice,” Ariolu stated.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the bickering and confusions caused by haters of peace and unity, Ariolu pointed to the fact that peace is a scriptural and spiritual injunction instituted by God for mankind.
He urged the people of Rumuobiokani Community to continue to preach and practice peace and love amongst each other, stating that peaceful coexistence is the watchword for unity.
He further commended them for the relative peace in the area following the cosmopolitan nature of the community.
Ariolu who lauded Rumuobiokani community for their unwavering support for the Peoples Democratic Party, played down the notion that the community has not benefited from the party.
“Rumuobiokani Community has totally supported PDP since 1999 which I’m aware, I’ve gone there to supervise election severally.”
“But to say that the community has benefited little or nothing, there’s no truth in that. Who was Hon. Collins Ordu, a member of State House of Assembly, an illustrious son of Rumuobiokani Community who won his election under PDP.”
“Who is the Deputy Leader of Obio/Akpor Legislative Council, Hon. Jennifer Benson, Councilor representing Ward 4.”
“In my administration, I have your son, Kenneth Orlu, he is my Personal Assistant.”
The Council boss explained that some communities in the area are yet to experience government presence but are still supporting the government of the day, urging the people of Rumuobiokani community to be patient and persevere.
Similarly, Ariolu stressed that his administration will consider some of the demand placed by the community, particularly on the area of road rehabilitation.
He said following the paucity of funds, his administration will not fail to do that which is within its capabilities for the community.
Paramount Ruler of Rumuobiokani Community, HRH Eze Amb. Dr. Samuel Nyeche Ejims Wopara KSC JP, who spoke earlier expressed delight with the visit to the Council Chairman.
He commeded Ariolu for his developmental strides towards improving the standard of living and welfare of the people.
Accordingly, he appreciated the Chairman for introducing another dimension of leadership which has had huge impact on the people of Obio/Akpor.
On his part, Former Rivers State House of Assembly Member Collins Ordu, lauded Ariolu for bringing back hopes to the people through his people-oriented projects which will last the test of time.
He described the projects and achievements of the Council boss as impactful and innovative, particularly the Post Graduate grants and Maritime Studies.
