Deputy Speaker Pledges More Projects As Imo Community Celebrates
The Deputy Speaker of Imo House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Amarachi Chyna Iwuanyanwu has assured the people of Amuzi, Dim-na-Nume Isu autonomous community in Nwangele Local Government Area that he would sustain the relentless efforts at improving the wellbeing of his constituents.
Speaking during his welcome address at the Amuzi Unity Day celebration held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church field, Amuzi on Sunday, January 1, 2023, the lawmaker emphasized that democratic dividends is the constitutional right of the people, and urged them ‘like Oliver Twist’, not to hesitate in asking for more.
The Imo Deputy Speaker who promised that the 2 kilometers Amuzi road would be completed at the end of January, also assured that the next phase of road construction would begin from Amuzi to Umuoparadim community.
The number four citizen who was recently conferred with the chieftaincy title of Amarachi Nwangele, conveyed the joy of Amuzi people following the electrification of the community with the facility officially powered on December 30, 2022.
Acknowledging the massive votes which he recorded from Abba and Dim-na-Nume Wards, during his election in 2019, Rt. Hon. Iwuanyanwu expressed his gratitude, saying, “I’ve not forgotten you people but I’m going to meet you with a big bang”.
The lawmaker who announced donation of a hundred thousand Naira starter pack each for five youths in the community, also declared that the first day of January each year has officially been designated Amuzi Unity Day Celebration.
Also speaking while receiving a post humorous award in honour of his late father and former stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Chyna Ignatius Iwuanyanwu, the Deputy Speaker thanked the Amuzi Progressives Union (APU) for celebrating his dad even in death and promised that those legacies left behind alive.
“I dedicate my life after God to him because I called him teacher. Everything I know today, he taught me. Before he passed on, he handed me over to everyone he felt would guide me through the right path.
“My father handed me over to Ngele of Nwangele, Chief Johnbosco Ozigbo and few others. He also made sure I build on the relationship he established with some persons in Amuzi and beyond”, he said.
Earlier in his speech, the National Chairman of APU, Mr. Obinna Otuonye praised Rt. Hon. Amarachi Iwuanyanwu on the giant developmental strides brought to the community, among which is the soon to be completed Amuzi road, electricity project and his financial support towards the Amuzi Hall project.
Chairman of the occasion, Chief Obinna Nwoke aside feting hundreds of community people with loaves of bread, pledged to sponsor the accommodation and feeding for 2 indigent Amuzi undergraduates in any Nigerian university or polytechnic for one year.
Chief Nwoke also offered free WAEC or NECO registration for 5 indigent Amuzi students, as well as #50,000 each to 2 poor widows in Amuzi.
Aside financial pledges and donations from well meaning sons, daughters and supportive in laws of Amuzi community, was a one million Naira donation announced by the Ngele Nwangele, Chief (Dr) Johnbosco Ozigbo.
