Ogoni Traditional Rulers Appeal To Political Leaders To Support Police

The Nyo – Khana council of Paramount rulers in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State has called on political leaders in the area to provide the necessary working tools for the Taabaa  Divisional Police Station as earlier demonstrated by the chairman of Khana Local Government Council, Dr. Thomas Bariere.

The royal fathers appreciated the effort of the Chairman of Khana LGA, Dr. Thomas Bariere for the restoration of peace and security in all communities in the area and also called on him to ensure that all villages in Nyo-khana district are administered the traditional oath of maintaining peace and security in their domains as earlier administered on other villages.

The Nyo-khana Council of Paramount rulers condemned in strong terms the chieftaincy crisis in Lueku community and set up an investigation committee to investigate the crisis and report back to the Council as soon as possible.

On the forthcoming general elections, the council applauded Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the ongoing distribution of PVCs at the ward levels and called on those that are yet to collect their PVCs to do so to enable them cast their votes during the elections .

Highlights of the one day Council meeting was a lecture on security and election violence by the DPO of Taabaa Divisional Police Station, CSP Amos Tawo and  the election of a seven member executive committee to pilot the affairs of the council in the next two years.

Those elected are HRH, Mene Suanu Baridam as Chairman, HRH, Mene Nule Nam as vice chairman, Mene Needam Jeremiah as secretary while Mene Friday Goteh Bebaa was elected Assistant Secretary.

Others elected include: Mene Nwadike Augustine as the P.r.o, Mene Jackson Abikor as Treasurer and Mene Legbara Aabu as provost.

In his post election speech , the newly elected Chairman, Mene Suanu Baridam called on elected officers to see their election as a call to service in the provision of peace and security for the people of Nyo Khana district.
