Abia Elder Statesmen Lambast Gov. Ikpeazu
The Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu has been described as the least qualitied among the members of the integrity group of the Peoples Democratic Party governors who are fighting for justice, equity and fairness in the party.
Comrade Aloy Okezie “Gov Ikpeazu, a former President-General of Uturu town in Rivers State said is not qualified to be among the group not only because of his abysmal performance in governance but for destroying the “Abia Charter of Equity”.
This charter, he pointed out, was a zonal mechanism foundation laid by the Abia founding fathers which enabled the governorship candidates to rotate among the three (3) senatorial zones of the state which he noted, the governor has destroyed for his selfish interest.
Comrade Okezie stated this in a chat with newsmen in course of receiving an Award of Excellence in appreciation of his contributions to the society during the yuletide in Port Harcourt.
He explained that the governorship candidates started with ex-governor Orji Uzor Kalu from Abia North senatorial zone and moved to Abia central with ex-governor Theodore Orji and later governor Okezie Ikpeazu from the Abia South Zone which he himself is a beneficiary.
He lamented that inspite of the peoples outcry, Governor Ikpeazu has discarded the charter of equity and bulldozed his kinsman, Prof. Ikonne as his successor in office.
Comrade Okezie recalled that his own community Uturu in Isiukwuato LGA of Abia State is one of the victims of Governor Ikpeazu’s misrule.
According to him “in 2019, my Alma Mater, Uturu Secondary School was abandoned alongside other schools in the state by the governor with only three (3) teachers to teach in the whole school without pay for over 24 months” he said.
He further explained that as a president of the school’s Old Boys Association, the body at a point intervened. “We renovated and equip the school, hired over twenty (20) teachers to teach in the school and contacted the governor for payment of their salaries but he blatantly refused to assist us, a project which cost us millions of naira, while he squander the states resources”, he said.
With regards to the political situation in Nigeria, Comrade Okezie who is the Director of Alpha Diagnostic Centre, Port Harcourt said it is very daisy but expressed hope for the country’s success in future especially with the youths showing interest in the electoral processes of 2023.
“With the youths getting involved in the electioneering process, as shown by the INEC’s registration announcement, there is hope for the country”, he stated.
Comrade Okezie pointed out that the present dispensation is Nigeria’s last chance of succeeding as a nation.
He explained that politics is a game of opportunity and number. “It is something of philosophy, ideology and compansion political power. He maintained that politics offers one an opportunity to change the people’s lives and environment positively. But when this is not achieved it is a colonial failure”, he said.
Comrade Okezie made it clear that when anybody in position of authority refuses or left undone what he/she supposed to do in the interest of the public, the person will definitely be the first victim of its consequences in the future at his/her old age.
He lamented that the country started sliding backward from 2015 till date, to the point where Nigeria is now the poverty capital of the world. He added that every well-meaning compatriots must get involved to rescue the country with their opportunity.
He further used the opportunity to warn the elders not to bequeath deserter to the youths unlike them who were bequeathed with competence, successes and bright future by their for bearers.
He stated that the emergeance of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi in the political space is not an accident but a divine project designed to rescue the country from total collapse.
He regretted that some persons has constituted themselves as a cabal, thinking that Nigeria belongs to them.
“They believe in the old order where they will always determine what happens at any point in time but God in His infinite mercy is going to disappoint them. And I love what the G5 governance is doing to the calal”, he said.
He made it known that the dynamism of the youths will make an impact in the electoral results at the polls.
Comrade Okezie made it clear that the older presidential candidates have been tested and found not to be reliable hence the tide is working against them. He used the opportunity to warn the electorates not to fall into their old tricks in the interest of the generation unborn as well as the corporate existence of the country.
