OLPHI Engages In Capacity Building   For Women

As part of its efforts in ensuring access to Health, Education, Food Sovereignty and Sustainable Life, a Non-Governmental Oganisatiion , Our Lady Of Perpertual Help Initiative (OLPHI), has organised a peace capacity building workshop for women.

Speaking to National Network, the Executive Director of OLPHI, Mrs Lorretta Ahuokpoeme hinted that the essence was to get more women understand what conflict is all about and equip them with advocacy tools, mediation tools and negotiation tools that will enable them handle and manage conflicts properly and avert escalation into full blown crisis.

She said the workshop was necessitated by the fact that women and children are the most vulnerable and most negatively impacted when there is violence, environmental degradation as well as even climate change and stressed the need for women to manage their lives well in order to achieve sustainable living .

Mrs Ahuokpeme further said that the Initiative, which is into Health, Gender Environmental Issues and Peace Building, is worried that lives span in this region has been drastically reduced due to environmental pollution, like the sooth and therefore, is supporting the global fight against climate change and improvement of healthy living.

Calling for support,  she disclosed that funds and resources are required in making more women participate in peace building, community governance, while stressing the need for food sovereignty and food security, which are among the issues in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Executive Director of OLPHI informed that as a nonprofit organization that requires funds to thrive the initiative it has as a way of ensuring sustainability and has decided to go into commercialized Agriculture so as to be able to be funding its activities.
