Human Capital Development Tops Agenda, As Fubara Campaigns In Omuma

The atmosphere in Omuma Local Government Area was electrifying and the spectacle was colorfully glamorous to behold, as the New Rivers Vision Consolidation Campaign train berthed in Eberi-Omuma for the Rivers PDP state-level electioneering rally, on Monday, 23 January 2023.

From one speaker to another, the message was the same: continuation of good governance in Omuma and the entire Rivers State.

The people unanimously responded with an assurance of block vote for PDP candidates in the Governorship, National Assembly, and State Assembly elections.

Addressing the mammoth crowd, the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara pledged to invest in human capital development to raise more economically viable and influential people in Omuma.

“My speech has been cut short with the positive declarations here.

This is a confirmation and affirmation that PDP is Omuma, and Omuma is PDP. Omuma people do not need to be told anything because they already know the road.

“On our way to the venue of this event, I saw the dividends of democracy given to you by Governor Nyesom Wike. The journey was smooth and fast because of the good roads. Your area is secured because of good governance.

“I will like to add that we need to also discover, grow, and develop more manpower and brainpower in this LGA. My declaration here today is that, I am going to focus on human capital development in Omuma. You have many things, but you still need more influential people to be stronger than what you are today.

“We want to build more people in Omuma so that you will be successful, prosperous and formidable than you are today. There is a saying: you don’t need to be loud to be strong, all you need is what it takes to deliver on core mandates. I can assure that we know what we are going to do and we will do it right for the people of Omuma and for the people of Rivers State,” he said.

Sir Fubara further explained the concept behind the theme of the campaign council, which is: Consolidation and Continuity.

“We did not just choose our theme for choosing sake, we chose Consolidation and Continuity because we have laid a good foundation in Rivers State since 2015, it must be built upon for the overall and long term development of the state, that is what I stand for. We must make sure that we do not derail, we must continue with the good governance that will bring more development for our people.

“I want to thank all of you for your support and your solidarity. It is very clear that your DNA is PDP and our vote is intact, but I want to appeal to you to sensitize our people to ensure they go to INEC office to collect their PVC because that is our power,” the Guber candidate added.

In his remarks, Rivers State Governor, His Excellency Nyesom Ezenwo Wike said his administration has awarded the contract for the construction of Umuakali-Eberi Road as a fulfillment of his promise to Omuma people.

“I don’t make promises that I cannot fulfil, if I promise anything, I always make sure I fulfill it. Some people came to you to make several promises but at the end of the day, they failed to fulfill any.

If they come back to you to ask for your votes, ask them what they came with. If they come to you with promises, give them promise too, we came to you with projects, you will give us your votes.

“Tonye Cole and his boss embezzled the money that they were supposed to use to develop Omuma and other parts of Rivers State, we charged them to court. Please do not let such people come close to power again.

“I came here and I told you people that I will construct road for you, and I did it. When I was commissioning the road, I promised to construct another road. Your leader can confirm that the Commissioner for Works has called him that I just awarded the contract for the construction of Umuakali-Eberi Road. I can assure you that this project must be completed.

“Today we have come to you with our governorship candidate and his deputy, they are going to consolidate on the good works we have done.

“When we came to you to support us in 2015, we made promises to you, you supported us and we fulfilled those promises. We have come again to ask you to support us by voting Siminalayi Fubara and we will do more for you in return.

“This is the first time we will be having two technocrats as governor and deputy governor. Siminalayi Fubara is a former Director of Finance and Administration and Accountant-General of Rivers State, while his deputy is a former permanent secretary and former Commissioner for Education, now a professor. They have the experience and knowledge to take this state to a greater height,” the Governor added.

The Chairman of PDP in Rivers State, Amb. Desmond Akawor said Omuma Local Government Area is fully “Simplified” and it is evident in the huge turnout for the rally,

Akawor stated this while presenting flag to the candidate for Omuma State Constituency.

On his part, the Director-General of the New Rivers Vision Consolidation Campaign Council, Bro Felix Obuah said before now, it will take you almost 2 hours to drive from Port Harcourt to Omuma due to bad road, but now it will take you not more than 45 minutes because Governor Nyesom Wike has constructed good roads in Etche Ethnic Nationality.
