Rivers UBEB Delists ‘Text Book’ From Schools’ Curriculum
The Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board has delisted the “Jokers’ at 60’s” text book from the approved list of text books for English Language in all Junior Secondary Schools in the State.
The State commissioner for Education, Professor Chinedu Mmom in a circular signed by the Director, for Academic Services of the Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board, Samuel Gilbert on behalf of the Board’s Chairman, directed all Rivers State UBE, Principals and English teachers to discontinue the use of the text book forthwith.
The State Commissioner of Education in the circular explained that the delisting is not unconnected with a scene of the Drama textbook not promoting morality.
It will be recalled that some parents took to their social media raising an alarm of some of a part of the text book promoting immorality among the junior students in secondary schools.
