A socio-political group, Friends Without Borders has described as false and self-serving the claim by one Chief Akaraka Nwaeze that the Ohaneze Ndigbo in Ogoni has adopted Sen. Magnus Abe as their favourite for the March 11, 2023 governorship election in Rivers State.
The group in a statement signed by their Coordinator and Director of Publicity, Chief Bassey Outdor and Comrade John Egwim Nwokorie respectively, said at no time did they meet or any of their affiliates to discuss the issue let alone adopting any candidate as their choice.
According to the group, Chief Akaraka Nwaeze is not, and has never been the leader of the non indigenes in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Chief Akaraka, they maintained, is an interloper who trades on lies for selfish interest, such as the one he has alleged against Rt. Hon. Dum Dekor and should be disregarded.
“At no time did Rt. Hon. Dumnamene Robinson Dekor ask anybody to leave Bori neither did he say that the Ogonis are not qualified to produce the governor of Rivers State.
“Those were mere fabrications by Chief Akaraka Nwaeze to extract undeserved favours from his victims like Hon. Magnus Abe who appears to be cashing in on this falsehood to fan the embers of disunity between the non indigenes and their hosts (Ogonis),” they declared.
Friends Without Borders therefore appealed to the general public to discountenance the lies and falsehood being peddled by Chief Akaraka Nwaeze against the person and respected member of the House of Representatives for Khana/Gokana Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Dum Dekor who has done everything within his capacity to help the non indigenes and indigenes alike and remains committed to this cause.
“May we also re-emphasize that we remain committed to the cordial relationship that exists between the non indigenes in Ogoni and all the Ogonis generally. We reject any effort in whatever form aimed at using our platform, Friends Without Borders or any of our members to castigate or embark on any campaign of calumny against any person or politician,” the group declared.
