APC Govt Has Failed Nigerians Woefully – Hon. Dappa

The immediate past Caretaker Committee Chairman of Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chief Hon. Boma Renner Dappa, has declared that the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government has woefully failed Nigerians and has no moral justification to seek for votes in the 2019 general elections.

Hon. Dappa stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has shown from all ramification that it has the interest of the country at heart and would continue to retain power.

According to him, “APC came to the scene in 2015 making fabulous promises, including reduction in fuel pump price.

He recalled that a bag of rice which sold for N8,500 now sells for N24,000 and that President Muhammadu Buhari failed to make the naira equal to the dollar as promised. “But what do we have today, a dollar exchanges for almost N400.00”, he said.

He made it clear that what Rivers people need now is a detribalized leader like Wike whom he said has performed excellently well in office and honoured by various organizations in appreciation.

On the agitation for a governor of Riverine extraction, Chief Dappa said that is not necessary as at now, as Governor Wike has done well and deserves a second term to consolidate on his achievements.

He, however, stated that second tenure is not automatic as it depends on the electorate who use their votes to determine the fate of the incumbent in relation to his/her performance with previous mandate.

According to him, “where a candidate comes from does not really matter but one who is competent, who has shown capacity to deliver dividends of democracy to the people and as well carry them along in the scheme of things”.

The former DELGA boss made it clear that the crop of agitators and their candidates are merely pretenders on the stool, and should not be taken seriously.

He advised politicians to play by the rule of the game and ensure that the electorate vote count in the interest of the nascent democracy. He equally advised the voters to vote, protect and guide their votes until they are counted.

Hon. Dappa, however, appealed to President Buhari to sign the Electoral (Amendment) Bill as it will enhance the electoral process and aid  the electoral umpires in carrying out their duties

“If the President has nothing to hide, he should sign the bill and immediately be implemented in the interest of the country”, he demanded.

He, however, advised the National Assembly members to consider vetoing on the Bill if the President refuses to append his signature, adding that after all members who passed the bill are representatives from various political parties.

Hon. Boma Dappa equally used the opportunity to congratulate their Excellencies, Governor Wike and his Deputy, Dr. (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry-Banigo and the State PDP Chairman, Bro Felix Obuah, on their birthday celebrations, especially considering their invaluable contributions in the society.
