Fmr. Imo State Governor, Deputy, Rep-Elect Wanted By Police Over Murder Allegation
Former Imo state governor, Emeka Ihedioha, his deputy Gerald Irona, and Coalition of United Political Parties spokesman Ikenga Ugochinyere have all been called in for questioning by the state’s Police Command in connection with homicide, kidnapping, and arson investigations.
Ukachi Opara, the state’s Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, sent a letter to Charles Ugwu, the head of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, asking him to bring the three people to the State Criminal Bureau of the police command on Thursday.
The letter, dated March 13, 2023, was seen by reporters in Owerri on Wednesday. It was titled “Re: Case of murder, kidnapping, and arson.
It read, “The office of State Intelligence Bureau, Imo State Police Command, state Headquarters Owerri, is investigating the above-underlined case involving some prominent members of Peoples Democratic Party, Imo State chapter.
“The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command requests you come along with the following persons, Emeka Ihedioha, Ugochinyere Ikenga Imo, Gerald Irona, to interview the commissioner of police, through the officer in charge of State Intelligence Bureau, Owerri date Thursday, March 16, 2023, time 10:00 prompt.”
Collins Opuruozor, a spokesman for the PDP in the state, confirmed that the police invitation was real when he was asked about it.
Also, Kissinger Ikeokwu, the Legal Adviser of the PDP in the state, told reporters that the State Working Committee of the party had received the police invitation asking the state party chairman to bring Ihedioha, Gerald, and Imo to the SIB unit of the command headquarters in Owerri on Thursday.
