The management and staff of National Network newspaper have felicitated with Comrades Job Stanley Job and Ike Wigodo respectively, following their emergence as Chairman and Secretary at the election conducted by the Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Wednesday.

In a statement jointly signed by Chris Konkwo (General Manager/Editor-in-chief) and Ken Asinobi (Editor), the paper expressed delight that the election eventually held after some failed attempts due to objections by key players.

While charging the new executive to consolidate on their achievements during the first tenure, the newspaper urged them to use their re-election to break new grounds and take the union to its desired destination.

The statement which described Mr. Job Stanley Job and Ike Wigodo as tested and proven media professionals, added that there is no doubt that the duo and the Consolidation Team would bring their experiences to bear in the new regime.

The paper also commended those who lost in the NUJ election for their display of  spirit of sportsmanship, while urging the Stanley Job-led executive to be magnanimous in victory and run an all-inclusive government.

“The exciting thing about the just concluded election is that despite the tortuous journey it took all the contestants, with time and resources dissipated, it brought out the best in every one of them.  We thank God that the election was eventually conducted in a most credible and transparent manner.

“As far as we are concerned, there are no winners and there are no losers.  The real winner is the NUJ in Rivers State and I appeal to every journalist in the state to support Stanley Job Stanley and Ike Wigodo to bring the NUJ to its desired place in the state”.

National Network newspaper also commended private media practitioners in the state for their huge turnout during the election, while giving kudos for the fatherly dispositions before, during and after the election.
