Tribunal Declares PDP’s Onwuka Authentic Winner

The lawmaker representing the people of Etche Constituency I in the Rivers State House of Assembly has been returned by the House of Assembly Election Tribunal as the eventual winner of the elections.

The tribunal which has been listening to the case brought before it ruled on Friday that the plaintiffs had failed to prove their case against Ignatius Onwuka of the PDP who was announced the winner by INEC.

Accordingly, the tribunal declared Onwuka winner of the last election, saying the facts showed that Onwuka defeated Uzodimma Nwafor of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Nwafor had rushed to the tribunal shortly after INEC published the results, asking it to annul the electoral victory of Honourable Ignatius Onwuka and the Peoples Democrats Party, PDP.

He also claimed he was robbed of victory through the manipulation of the electoral process.

Onwuka, a one-time aide of the Rivers State PDP Chairman now has the opportunity to focus on his primary assignment as the representative of the people.

As the news of his victory spreads, the Port Harcourt Telegraph Correspondent reports there have been jubilations at Igbodo, Mba, Obite, Ndashi, Okehi and Ozuzu.

His declaration as the winner by the tribunal is coming close on the heels of the victory of Senator Ipalibo Harry-Banigo.
