The Ogoni land renowned for its agrarian nature and industry was on Monday, September 18, 2023 eclipsed by sudden darkness at day time with the breaking news of the death of the lawmaker representing Khana State Constituency 2 in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. DineBari Loolo.
Late Hon. Loolo, a day before his sudden death (Sunday) was said to be full of life and just a few hours before he passed on, conducted his family’s usual morning devotion on that fateful Monday morning.
A professional lawyer, late Hon. Loolo got elected into the Rivers State House of Assembly in 2015 after serving in other capacities. In February, this year, the deceased legislator was re-elected into the hallowed chambers as a reward for hard work, and effective representation of his people.
He represented the people of Khana State Consistency 2 and contributed his quota in attracting developmental projects to Khana Local Government Area and Ogoni at large. The late Ogoni-born politician and lawyer was a prominent member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State.
While reacting to his death, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule described the fallen lawmaker, Hon. DineBari Loolo as a rare gem.
He said this when he led other lawmakers on a condolence visit to the family of the honourable member.
He expressed the condolences of the House to the family of their Colleague, late Hon. Loolo, who according to him contributed immensely to the development of his constituency and the State as a whole.
He urged the family to take solace in the fact that the late Hon. Loolo lived a life of service to humanity and left a legacy that will forever be remembered.
The Rivers Stater House Speaker also assured the family of the continued support of the House, and prayed for their comfort and strength during this difficult period; adding that the almighty God will grant the family and his loved ones the fortitude to bear the loss of their beloved.
