Slain DPO Did Not Lose His Family In Our Land – Ogoni Group
A socio Ogoni cultural group, the Ogoni Peoples Assembly, OPA, said that the slain Divisional Police Officer, DPO of Ahoada, SP Bako Agbashim did not lose his family members in Ogoni land as was reported in a section of the media.
There was a media report that the slain DPO lost his family members to criminals during his stay in Ogoni.
The leader of Ogoni Peoples Assembly, OPA, Rev. Probel Williams who spoke with our reporter in Port Harcourt said that the deceased DPO had a very good and cordial relationship with the people of Ogoni when he served as a DPO at Bori and would not have lose any of his family members in the area.
Rev. Probel Williams said that the support given to the deceased contributed to his crime fighting success saying that his presence brought sanity and restored security in the area.
He said that the success story recorded in that area by the deceased was as a result of the massive support he got from the people of Ogoni.
He said in appreciate to his success in crime fighting the group honoured the deceased with an award ,”the symbol of security in Ogoni.”
“The media report that late SP Bako Agbashim lost his family in Ogoni is not correct. Ogoni people are peace loving people and would not have in anyway contemplated killing a gallant police officer’s family members. The late DPO was a deligent officer who fought hard to restore security in our land”
“He was supported by the people of Ogoni and that was the reason why he succeeded in his fight against crime. The OPA which I led gave him an award the ,’symbol of security in Ogoni land” the award was given to him in appreciation to his dogged fight against crime and criminality”
“We loved him and since the news of his demise break we were very sad. If we did not support him he wouldn’t have succeeded in crime fighting in our land. I want the public to discountance such report,” he said.
The late Agbashim was beheaded on the 8th of September, 2023 at Odumude community in Ahoada local government area of Rivers State by suspected cult group believed to be Icelanders.
Rivers State Police Command said some arrest have been made since the killing of the DPO.
