Bonny LG Chairman Plays Host To Youths Commissioner For RSG Workshop On Skill Acquisition

There was sensitisation and deliberations on the economic way forward for Youths in Rivers State at the Ibanise Town Hall, Bonny, today where the Executive Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Dame Hon Anengi Barasua Claude-Wilcox, DSSRS, JP., played host to the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development in Rivers State, Hon Chisom Kenneth Gbali, PhD, who said he was on the visit to drive home the plans of the Rivers State Governor, Amaopusenibo, Sir, Siminialayi Fubara, GSSRS, for Bonny youths.

Speaking at the workshop which had close to a thousand youths across Bonny in attendance, the Bonny LGA Boss made a case for a special consideration for Bonny people in view of the forthcoming empowerment and other state opportunities because of the peculiar location of the Island.

She informed that the LGA was already on the pathway of reviving the Local Government Industrial Unit and FSP training center to compliment the capacity building drive in the LGA, while assuring that her people were willing, ready and able to actively participate in ventures that have economic value, just as she thanked the Rivers State Governor for matching words with action in his promise to integrate Bonny in the scheme of things.

For his part, the Honourable Commissioner for Youths said the training was in line with the Governor’s resolve to concentrate more in human capital development with youths as the main targets, adding that the core areas would be ICT, Vocational trainings and Entrepreneurship, pointing out that the future belonged to those who learn more skills and put same to work in creative ways.

He further commended the LGA Boss for being an embodiment of service as evidenced in her two years scorecard.

Highpoint of the day-long workshop were questions, answers and the presentation of a document on the Preparedness Plan by the Honourable Commissioner to the LGA Boss.
