Prof. Odu Congratulates Gov. Fubara For Winning South-South Primary Health Care Leadership Challenge

The  Rivers State Deputy Governor, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, has congratulated the State Chief Executive, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, herself, and all members of the Rivers State Task Force on Primary Health Care for winning the Primary Health Care Leadership Challenge in the South-South Zone of Nigeria and emerging second nationally.

Prof. Odu made this known while speaking during the 2025 Fourth Quarter Meeting of the State Task Force on Primary Health Care, held at the Government House, Port Harcourt, on Monday, 29th December, 2025.

The Deputy Governor described the achievement as remarkable, noting that winning the award for the third time despite numerous challenges was a testament to the commitment and resilience of the team.

The Chairman of the Task Force urged members of the Task Force to guard the achievement jealously and strive to remain champions, not only in the South-South Zone but across the entire country.

“Actually, to tell the truth, I had almost lost hope. I felt that if we didn’t get it, no problem. Even the Commissioner, I am sure, was also a little sceptical.

But God being God, and all of you being enabled, you filled the gaps beyond other states and kept us on top.

So, congratulations. Now we know that we must guard this jealously.

We must continue to be number one not just in the South-South, but aspire to be number one in the country by God’s grace,” the Deputy Governor stated.

Prof. Odu encouraged the team to stand tall and remain proud of the health sector in Rivers State, urging them to sustain their outstanding performance in both Primary and Secondary Health Care Service Delivery.

She also commended the successful showcase of the telemedicine component during the Ahoada commissioning. According to her, the Rivers State Government, under the leadership of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, as well as the people of the State, appreciate the efforts of the Task Force, noting that they have continued to perform exceptionally well.
