NDDC Boss, Ogbuku Receives Chieftaincy Title In Ogu

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr Samuel Ogbuku has been installed as the “pere se Bobo” of Ogu Kingdom in a ceremony that blended tradition, culture and recognition in Ogu/Bolo local government area of Rivers State over the weekend.
The colourful installation was performed by the Ogu Divisional Council of Chiefs led by its chairman, Alabo, Barr. Lawrence Abiebiari Imbi Egbelepeke, alongside other Chiefs-in-Council.
Speaking during the ceremony, Alabo Egbelepeke said the honour was in recognition of Dr Ogbuku’s contributions to the development of Ogu kingdom and the wider Niger Delta region.
“Today marks a defining moment in our chieftaincy institution as we gather to install our brother, our son and our father as a Chief in Ogu Kingdom”, he said.
“He is a man whose life of service, leadership and commitment to the development of our people and the Niger Delta has spoken louder than words.”
He noted that with all the installation, Dr. Ogbuku becomes a full member of the Ogu Divisional Council of Chiefs, enjoying all rights and privileges accorded to sons of the kingdom.
In response Dr Ogbuku expressed gratitude to the traditional institution and people of Ogu Kingdom for the honour describing it as a call to deeper services.
“I am deeply humbled by this recognition. This honour strengthens my resolve to continue contributing to the development of Ogu kingdom and the Niger Delta as a whole in line with the mandate of NDDC. The ceremony was rounded off with the traditional “Omuaru” Boat Regatha, adding cultural colour and significance to the installation and drawing community members and dignitaries from across the area.
