PVC Registration: Why Traditional Rulers Must Lead Campaign – Chief Chika

A prominent son of Rumuokwuta Community in Obio Akpor Local Government Area, Chief Promise B. I. Chika, has urged traditional institution in Rivers State to take the lead in driving the ongoing voters’ registration exercise.

He argued that as custodians of the custom and tradition, traditional rulers hold a sacred duty of setting the best agenda for their subjects.

The Eze-Kwesiri-Opara 1 of Rumuokwuta Community who spoke to National Network at his home in Elioparanwo Town on Saturday, said voters registration is a civic responsibility which every responsible citizen should uphold.

“My submission is that it is pointless for us to sit idly and grumble about inefficiency of government when the power is in our hands to change an unfavorable system.  Traditional rulers should drive the process and campaign vigorously for their subjects to embrace this opportunity to vote in good leaders”, he said.

A prince of Rumuokwuta Committee, Chief Chika also appealed to the leadership of the youths, as well as the Community Development Committee to mobilize everyone for the onerous task.

Chief Chika, a Port Harcourt-based businessman and former Elioparanwo CDC Chairman, gave kudos to the Nyenweli Rumuokwuta, Eze Amadi Chika JP, for effectively piloting the affairs of the community with the reign of peace and tranquility.

While urging the people of Rumuokwuta to continue to follow the trends, especially on those angling for political positions in 2023, Chief Chika also charged them to vote for competent and credible persons irrespective of party affiliation.
