Moni Pulo Shares: Court Trashes Dumo Lulu-Briggs’ Suit

…As Seinye Lulu-Briggs Celebrates In Church

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has dismissed a suit filed by the Governorship candidates of Accord party, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs seeking a declaration that the shares of Moni Pulo Limited belonged to him, claiming that he gave them in trust to his late dad, High Chief O. B. Lulu-Briggs.

The court presided over by Justice J. K. Omotosho, in a 27-page ruling, dismissed the suit for gross abuse of court process after Dumo who was the 2nd plaintiff in the suit signed a Deed of Settlement and collected the sum of $8million.

The Accord party standard bearer and his siblings, Senibo Lulu-Briggs, Sofiri Lulu-Briggs and Chima Onimim Lulu-Briggs who were plaintiffs in the case, had in the suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1481/2021 dragged his stepmother, Dr. (Mrs.) Seinye Peterba Lulu-Briggs and 5 others including Moni Pulo Limited before the court.

In their Writ of Summons dated and filed on November 25, 2021 Dumo and his siblings sought several reliefs among which was that 268,445,000 shares of the 1st to 3rd plaintiffs in the 5th defendant, amounting to 67.1% “were not out rightly transferred to High Chief Olu Benson Lulu-Briggs (the deceased) but were given to him by the plaintiffs to hold in trust for their benefit”.

This was followed by a resultant series of judicial combats, led by their counsels – Samson A. Eigege Esq. with Adegboyega Esq. and Olayemi Afolayan Esq – for Plaintiffs; and Gabriel Uduafi Esq. with David Nwokike Esq. – for the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th Defendants and Deb o Ikuesan Esq. – for 3rd Defendants.

In his ruling which was delivered on February 15, 2023, Justice Omotosho declared: “The court therefore agrees that the suit is an abuse of court process.  This court will not allow its processes to be used in such a frivolous and vexatious manner.  Consequently, the instant suit before the court is hereby declared to be an abusive process and as such it is dismissed.

“Having dismissed the suit for being an abuse of court process, the other issue formulated goes to no issue”.

To celebrate the court victory, the Defendants led by Dr. Mrs. Seinye Lulu-Briggs on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 took to church for a Thanksgiving Service at the Chapel of God International Worship Center, Forces Avenue, Port Harcourt.

In her message to the church, witnessed by a packed audience, Mrs. Lulu-Briggs extolled the greatness of God in the affairs of Moni Pulo Limited.

“When I say God is real, believe me, not God in the sense of we all worshipping one God, be it through any means.  No! that is not what I mean.  I mean God is real in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.  This is because that name is the name we call concerning this company, Moni Pulo and He has come through 100% of the time”, the elated Seinye enthused.

She said the company had been facing legal battles since the passing of its Founder, High Chief (Dr) O.B Lulu-Briggs, adding that the attack was targeted at crumbling the company and its business and destroying the current ownership structure of the company.

“If they had succeeded, Moni Pulo may not have survived and over One hundred Nigerians who earn their living by working in this company, would have lost their source of living. Do you know what?, to the glory of the Almighty God, the Federal High Court Abuja where they sued us, on the 15th of February 2023, dismissed their suit/case in its entirety for grossly abusing court process, thereby giving us another astounding victory. We call Him Jehovah Overdo for a reason. He is more than worthy of our praise”.

Disclosing that February 28 of each year is dedicated in thanksgiving to God for His mercies, the Moni Pulo boss noted that year 2022 was exceptional because of the horde of challenges encountered by the company, but expressed gratitude to God for seeing them through.

“I am talking about situations beyond the control and interventions of men. For instance, imagine drinking water from your only bottle knowing that once that bottle is empty, that’s the end for you, yet you continue despite the water going down.

“Naturally, fear, panic, sadness and even depression are expected to set in but in Moni Pulo’s case, because of our intimacy with the Lord Jesus Christ and the assurances in His word, we drink trusting, hopeful, daring to be expectant and like the historical truth of the biblical woman of Zarephath in 1 Kings 17:11-16, we are still drinking from that bottle to date contrary to the studies, forecast and comprehension of men. Just as God supernaturally extended the Zarephath woman’s food supply according to His word, He supernaturally extended our reserves in addition to other oil fields that he blessed us with”, she declared.

Dr. Lulu-Briggs expressed delight that God demonstrates his covenant keeping status by taking the matters of Moni Pulo very personal, adding, “He had made nations go to war for our sake, tilting oil pricing markets to our favour and benefit.  God has caused us to overcome by His power, every disappointment expected to crush us”.

She went on: “Let me break it down: in a span of 4years we drilled 3 exploration wells and 2 development wells, without any commercial find or additional production. We solely funded the very capital intensive exploration drilling organically, which we all know is no small feat and by the grace of God, despite all odds, we are still standing and saying ‘there is a lifting up!’”.

Mrs. Lulu-Briggs disclosed that the event also serves as appreciation to God for keeping the board, management and staff of Moni Pulo alive and well to witness this year’s Thanksgiving.
