2023 Elections: Rivers PDP Orgazise Thanksgiving Service For Victory
The Peoples Democratic Party PDP on Thursday held a Thanksgiving service to celebrate the victory of the party in the just concluded Governorship and State Assembly Elections.
The event held at the State Party Secretariat along Aba Road, Port Harcourt during the bi- weekly Praise and worship program had prominent politicians including the State Deputy Governor, Dr/Mrs Ipalibo Harry Banigo, who is also Senator elect for Rivers west Senatorial District, the Deputy Governor elect, Prof/Mrs Ngozi Odu who represented the Governor elect, His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara, both returning and elected members of the National Assembly as well as the State House of Assembly, Local government chairmen, some members of the State Executive council, members of the State Party Exco, members of the Rivers Vision Women, the academia among others.
The session was officiated by the Rivers State Head of Service, Mr Rufus Godwins.
Delivering his message, Mr Godwins said that those who trust in God can never be defeated in any battle.
He said the PDP went into the battle of election and conquered not because they were too powerful, but because the mercy of God was sufficient for them.
The Rivers State Head of service emphasized that the plans of the enemies against God’s people would always fail, hence despite the mercenaries the enemies imported into the state for the Governorship and State House of Assembly Elections, they still failed, noting that it was important to thank God, particularly for the victory despite all odds.
In his speech, Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ambassador Desmond Akawor charged those going to National and State Assemblies not to turn their back on the party but always remember her in the scheme of things.
He assured the Lawmakers of continuous prayers from the party for success in their legislative duties.
Ambassador Akawor hailed Governor Nyesom Wike who is the leader of the party in the state for the beautiful work he has done for the South South region in particular and Southern Nigeria in general, saying that through his actions people now know that Rivers State is a state to reckon with.
“We will pray for our leader. He has done it. He has worked for the South South.
He has worked for Southern Nigeria that today people believe we are there. As a party we urge all our National Assembly members and state assembly members not to forget that Thanksgiving is an important thing in the House of the lord”, he said.
The PDP Chairman berated those he refered to as “Abuja Generals and Black Bus occupants” for turning against Rivers people by attempting to hand over the state to the Fulanis, an action he said God Almighty prevented.
According to Ambassador Akawor, “in all the Battles from primaries to date, God has seen us through and some of us who were around in 2015 saw how we almost lost all the seats, but we recovered them at the tribunal.
Which ever seat that is today pending, Ogu/Bolo and Phalga, we will definitely recover them at the Tribunal because our prayers were that we shall never loose any seat and God has done so marvelously that it is difficult for us to even believe what we have seen”.
