The Ogoni Youth Federation (OYF), the apex youth group in Ogoniland has congratulated the new Project Cordinator of the Hydrocarbon Pollution and Remediation Project (HYPREP), Prof. Nenniibarini Zabbey on his appointment, while commending President Buhari administration for appointing a development expert as Project coordinator of HYPREP.
Speaking to newsmen in Abuja on his three days working visit to the Federal Capital Territory, the President-General of OYF and Mene Legbo Zuguru of Ogoniland, Chief (Amb.) Legborsi Yamaabana said the appointment of Prof. Zabbey is well-deserved which further confirms the confidence President Buhari and Ogoni people repose in him to handle a very sensitive and high responsibility such as the Remediation of the contaminated Ogoniland.
The youth leader advised the new Project Coordinator to consider his appointment as a call to higher service and urged him to steer the ship of the agency to an enviable height that would give credence to the struggle of our forebears and leave a footprint on the sands of time and service to humanity.
Chief. Yamaabana further enjoined the HYPREP PC to develop an inclusive roadmap and a people-oriented administration that will make a clear departure from the battered history of HYPREP.
“We trust that you will develop an inclusive blueprint, as we trust your leadership qualities will enhance sustainable development in Ogoniland as you bring your wealth of experience in the development sector cum technical know-how to bear for the speedy and successful clean-up of the contaminated lands of Ogoni,” the youth boss said.
He further pledged his unalloyed support to the HYPREP project Coordinator and the Honorable Minister of Environment, while assuring him that Ogoni youths will give all the necessary support needed by providing a rancour free atmosphere to operate, engage, and deliver on the mandate given to him by Mr. President and the extant laws of the land.
