A group, under the auspices of the Yoruba Community in Rivers State has expressed confidence in the ability of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to fix Nigeria for good.
President General of the Yoruba Community in Rivers State, Chief Dr. Adekunle Bright Alabi said this in Port Harcourt while speaking on Tinubu’s two days visit to Rivers State to commission the Rumuokwuta/Rumuola flyover bridge and the Magistrate Court Complex on the 3rd and 4th May, 2023.
Alabi, who spoke through the National Coordinator of the Rivers State Non Indigenous Support Group for Asiwaju (RISNIGA), Dr. Prince Adeleke-Jones told journalists that Tinubu has the technical know-how to turn the country around.
He assured that the President-elect would form a cabinet of competent Nigerians to enable him provide good governance to the people.
“The President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a man that understands governance. He believes that a round peg and a square peg should be put in their rightful holes. And he has done that several times. He is not sentimental. He is a detribalized leader. He doesn’t want to know which region you are from or what your people thinks of you, he believes in what he knows you can do and he fix you there.
“That is just the perfect way to get it right because when you put the right person in the right position, things will work fantastically and there would be results.
“Tinubu has the best selection of ideas and men and women that are capable to do things right. So, I advice Nigerians to expect results from him. He has also said it, he is coming with a renewed hope for Nigeria”.
He commended governor Nyesom Wike who according to him is leaving no stone unturned in reconnecting Rivers State to the government at the centre before he leaves office, despite being an opposition.
“Wike has done marvelously well in terms of projects delivery, all the projects were done at the time they have the right purpose to serve the people.
“It was well thought of him to have brought the president-elect to commission the 12th flyover bridge and the Magistrate Court Complex. He simply showed that he has Rivers people at heart.
“Rivers State has been disconnected from the federal government since Dr. Peter Odili left office as governor in 2007. Naturally, if a power station is disconnected from the federal grid, you know that there would be no light, the case of Rivers is likened to it.
“So, its wise that Rivers State finds the route to seeing that they get connected back to the federal, and that is what Wike is doing and I celebrate him for that”.
Alabi however clarified that the group remains apolitical, explaining that their constitution empowers them to attend state functions and support good governance.
“Inviting the president elect has no party attraction. Its not a party affair, it is a Rivers State affair and that is why we came out as Yoruba Community in Rivers State to welcome the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
