Executive Order 6, Buhari’s Repressive Mechanism — Glory Emeh
The Executive Order 6 said to have been issued by President Muhammadu Buhari will certainly be his albatross as Nigerians go to the polls in 2019.This is because the so called Executive Order 6 conflicts with constitutional provisions just as it is also barbaric, draconian and repressive, showing evidence of an autocratic leader.
This was view of the former chief of staff in Rivers State, Barr. Emeh Glory Emeh, a commentator on International Law and Jurisprudence, while fielding questions from journalists in his office in Port Harcourt on Monday.
Barr. Emeh, who was also commissioner for transport and aviation during the administration of Dr. Peter Odili, said that it is a further proof of the selectiveness of Buhari’s fight against corruption.
“To some people, it is not strange that Buhari only included names of politicians in opposition parties and left out those in his APC. This goes to buttress the argument of many Nigerians that Buhari’s anti-corruption crusade is one sided.
“Executive Order 6 is another example of the cluelessness of the Buhari administration because a government that has new ideas will not continue to duplicate already existing laws as this will amount to superfluity. You recall that there are several enactments dealing on the areas that the so called Order 6 has set out to deal.
“There is enough provisions in all the anti-graft enactments for dealing with matters concerning forfeiture or ceasure of ill gotten wealth, and these provisions also provided for the rights and privileges of those involved and any attempt to unilaterally assume powers that have been carefully dealth with in our constitution can only be described as executive impunity.
“As a lawyer, particularly with training in International Law and Jurisprudence, I sympatise with Nigerians for the mistake they have made in entrusting their welfare in the hands of persons whose training and experience have no regard for human life. But, we thank God that we have an opportunity to correct the wrong of the imposition of 2015, as we prepare to vote in another election in 2019.
“I have no difficulty to believe that Nigerians will not make the same mistake, not when PDP has given them an outstanding, articulate and experienced politician of repute in the person of His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria’s former Vice President and Waziri Adamawa and a tested technocrat, Mr. Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State as a running mate.” Chief Emeh concluded with finality.
The political strategist and chairman of Board of Trustees of SupportPopularView International also commended Governor Ezenwo Wike of Rivers State for his commitment to the development and stabilization of PDP in Rivers State and at the national level, an effort that has made the victory of Atiku Abubakar, PDP Presidential flag bearer and other candidates of PDP in 2019 election a fait accompli, the reason why the popular view in the state is that there is no alternative to Wike in 2019.
