The Global Coordinator of the Rivers SIM Movement – Hon. Tonye Cookey-Gam on behalf of the entire members of RSM commends the Executive Governor of Rivers State – His Excellency, (Amaopusenibo) Siminialayi Joseph Fubara, GSSRS for the way and manner he has made the appointments of his cabinet.
Hon. Cookey-Gam in a Press Statement issued to the media in Port Harcourt on Friday, 30th June, 2023 said the appointment of Hon. Chidi Amadi and Hon. Dr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo, DSSRS as Chief of Staff to the Governor and Secretary to the State Government respectively are in good faith.
Coming from the Rivers South East Senatorial District, the Governor in his wisdom evenly distributed the two principal offices to the remaining two zones. Hon. Dr. Tammy Danagogo coming from Rivers West and Hon. Chidi Amadi coming from Rivers East Senatorial Districts.
Gov. Fubara has made history by achieving this feat as no governor since 1999 has completely applied the Principle of State Character in these appointments.
Furthermore, he said “I want to also use this medium to congratulate the Commissioners of various ministries that have been appointed by Our Principal, the Governor of Rivers State. The Governor choose Technocracy over ethnocentrism as the Commissioners are round squares in round holes. Ranging from Dr. Adaeze Chidinma Oreh as Commissioner for Health to Engr. Dax Alabo George Kelly as Commissioner for Works to Prof. Prince Chinedu Mmon as Commissioner for Education etc.
“On behalf of our Patron – Hon.(Deacon) Akie Fubara and the Diaspora Coordinator – Amaopusenibo Shedrack Fubara, we urge the good citizens of Rivers State to ignore and shun the haters of Rivers State fanning the embers of ethnicity, tribalism and nepotism.
“Political detractors should desist from distracting the less than 40 days administration of His Excellency, Sir Siminialayi Joseph Fubara, GSSRS. The government welcomes opposition to constructively criticize and bring opinions that will shape further the policies of the incumbent administration”.
Hon. Tonye Cookey-Gam maintains that the appointees of Gov. Fubara are all Rivers men and women that he has worked with and had cordial relationship with when he was serving in his previous positions as a civil servant of Rivers State.
Finally he said “the Governor has put to shame the enemies of Rivers State who had predicted that Amaopusenibo Siminialayi Fubara, GSSRS would turn around to fight his predecessor and benefactor Chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike CON, POS Africa in the first month of assumption of duties. The incumbent Governor for the umpteenth time has said that his Government would Consolidate and Continue where the previous administration ended”.
