RSHA To Ensure Budgetary Compliance By MDAs
As part of its oversight functions on Ministries, Departments and Agencies(MDAs), the Rivers State House of Assembly Joint Committee on Finance and Public Accounts has met with the Management of Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic and the Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board to ascertain their level of compliance with their respective budgetary provisions.
Chairman of the Joint Committee, Hon. Edison Ehie, informed that the meeting was to ensure adequate financial accountability by MDAs, adding that the audit was done in line with their responsibilities as required by law.
He further said that the House, being aware of the funds released to the various MDAs by the executive, decided to invite them to know the overview of their financial management for the first, second and third quarters.
On his part, Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts, Hon. Major Jack, while assuring that the exercise was not a witch- hunt, said that it was to review the income and expenditure framework of the MDAs as well as maintain fiscal discipline and budgetary compliance by Government parastatals .
Rector of Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Dr Sam Kalagbor, while recounting achievements of the school during the period, said the school has managed its funds in line with the provisions of the appropriation law.
