Gov Wike Deserves Commendation, Encouragement – CAN
The Rivers State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Most Special Apostle Stanley Dimkpa, has said that Rivers State Governor, Chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, deserves commendation and every encouragement for initiating and successfully organizing the fasting and prayer programme for the State which he said no doubt has great effect.
Speaking with newsmen in Port-Harcourt during the 3-day fasting and prayer session by Christians for peace in Rivers State and violence free elections at Obi Wali International Conference Centre, Port-Harcourt, the CAN chairman said that Governor Wike has done a lot for the State, especially for Christians and urged them to reciprocate the good gesture by praying for him for God’s continuous blessing.
Dimkpa who is also the State Chairman of Organization of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), said he was the happiest person for the success of the programme as it was his first assignment as CAN chairman, adding that it was borne out of the CAN National President’s one-day prayer programme directives.
Quoting profusely from the holy book, Apostle Dimkpa declared that God Himself said that “If His people would have time to seek His face, He will condescend and answer them”.
On the forthcoming general election, Apostle Dimkpa prayed that God should in His infinite mercy help to enthrone a credible candidate who would restore the state and country to her lost glory, adding that “when the righteous rule, the people rejoice”.
He, however, enjoined the electorate to avoid electoral apathy and ensure that they exercise their franchise to enthrone a good leader.
He assured that God has no doubt answered the prayers offered by Rivers people.
The man of God who is one of the leaders in the Sacred Cherubim & Seraphim Church made it clear that anybody or institution including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) who goes contrary to the will of God will live to regret his or her action.
He said: “Anybody who is involved in the conduct of the election whether INEC officials, adhoc staff, security agents or even the politicians and allow himself/herself perpetrate any form of manipulation will see the wrath of God”.
The man of God said that the fasting and prayer programme would not end as the general one was ending but advised religious leaders to continue interceding to God in their individual churches until the nation is restored back to her lost glory.
On whether the Christian body had done enough, the CAN chairman said that CAN had not done enough to save the country from the clutches of the devil.
He said however, that the major focus of the body was to unite all Christian denominations to achieve unity of purpose for the task ahead.
On the effect of proliferation of churches in the country, the clergyman said that it was a good omen, adding that as individuals are different, so is their destiny and talents.
He made it clear that God had deposited different talents in each and everyone of us and that when these talents are variously applied, the task of propagation of God’s work would be easier because according to him, “what is important is capturing as many persons as possible for Christ and salvation”.
In his contribution, the representative of the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim & Seraphim, Senior Apostle, Prince Daniel Akah, confirmed that prayer is the most potent weapon of the Christian faithful, adding that for Governor Wike to discover this most guarded secret and encourage it, the State, her people and residents will be better for it.
