Presidential Campaign Rally Tragedy: APC Is Inhuman

By Barile L. Zorle

Before now the All Progressives Congress, APC, has created the impression of wanting to take over the leadership of the State to improve the welfare of the people. By employing all manner of lies and half-truths, they created a world of make-believe which expectedly has won for the party a lot of victims.

But the last Tuesday’s painful death of so many Rivers indigenes who had trooped into Adokiye Amiesiemaka Stadium to witness the boastful APC presidential campaign rally has exposed the evil intentions of the so called APC chieftains in the State.

It is indeed true that when the gods want to kill they first make their victim mad.

Incidentally, there was a similar presidential campaign rally by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for their presidential candidate, Alh. Atiku Abubakar the previous day, which pulled ten times the APC crowd yet there was no single report of mishap.

On the spot, about 10 persons were reported dead which has risen close to 20 persons at last count.

One would have expected the conscienceless APC to be remorseful and sympathize with the families of the victims and perhaps, declare a day of mourning for the victims.

But rather than do that, all the APC cared for was to mobilize another group of Rivers people and prospective victims to protest to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Port Harcourt against the non-inclusion of their candidates’ names on the ballot papers by INEC.

This is the height of selfishness and wickedness, no wonder the gods have deserted them and marked them for failure in every step they take. What if those that died in that unfortunate but avoidable incident were their mothers, sisters or brothers, how would they feel.

Death, we know is nature’s way of telling us to slow down but the APC has refused to heed this eternal truth until they see all Rivers people dead but God forbid.

Even while we are still mourning the loss of our loved ones with no condolences or any show of concern by the APC, they have gone ahead to mobilize another group of people whose blood they want to use to disrupt the elections on Saturday, Feb. 16, while their children and close relations have been hidden in safe caves.

Like the ‘he-goat’, the APC is so short sighted to locate the source of its problems which is internal.

We advise that rather than plotting to plunge the State into needless and senseless blood-letting, the APC should take a deep breath and find a way of putting its house in order and stop venting their frustrations on innocent Rivers people.

And to their ring leader, Chibuike Amaechi, let it be known that a “white beard does not make a person wise”.
