APC Disowns Amaechi, Says No Guber Candidate Is Adopted In Rivers
…Declares: ‘We Won’t Allow Him To Rule Rivers State Through Back Door’
The crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State appears unending as the Prince Peter Odike faction of the party has declared that APC has not adopted any gubernatorial candidate in the State ahead of Saturday Governorship Election.
APC in a statement signed by State Chairman, Prince Peter Odike, said its attention has been drawn to a directive from the Minister for Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to members of the party in the State, to vote for the candidates of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the Governorship and House of Assembly elections on Saturday, 9th March, 2019.
Directing on behalf of the State Working Committee of the APC, Odike called on all members and supporters of the APC in the State to discountenance the said directive of the Transportation Minister, as according to him, it did not emanate from the APC in Rivers State.
“Let me inform our members and supporters that the matter of the APC in Rivers State is presently pending before the Supreme Court and that the party never held any meeting in which the decision to enter into any alliance with any other party was reached.
“Let it also be known that the Minister for Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is completely acting as an individual on this matter”, he said.
The Rivers APC Chairman affirmed that Amaechi would never play the ostrich and cannot be ‘next Governor of Rivers State through the back door after attempting to destroy the party in the State’.
He called on party faithful in the State to remain steadfast and maintain their faith in the Supreme Court of Nigeria, hoping that the apex court of justice would restore APC candidates on the ballot for the Governorship and House of Assembly Elections in the State.
